The KHT Kids’ Club on KHT Online enables our young people to engage with Koorie culture through art and storytelling. We will be uploading to this page colouring sheets (with story) designed especially by our Victorian Aboriginal artists, as well as other activity sheets and animations.
The KHT Kids’ Club is proudly supported by Viva Energy Australia and Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family.
For Reconciliation Week 2021, KHT came together with NGV and Cassie Leatham (Taungurung) on this video for primary school children on an artwork exploration they could watch with families.
How can art express connection to Country, culture and community? Taungurung artist Cassie Leatham and NGV educator John Parkinson got together for a discussion about her woven artwork “Healing Weaved Floor Mat with Emu Feathers”. Discover how Country provides materials for Leatham’s artmaking and valuable lessons to pass on to the next generation.
“Healing Weaved Floor Mat with Emu Feathers” part of our exhibition “Deadly Narratives: Recent Collection Highlights” 13 March – 25 July 2021.
Cassie Leatham is a Taungurung artist, dancer, weaver and educator with a passion for sharing Indigenous people’s cultures. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and her artworks have been acquired by the NGV, Koorie Heritage Trust Collection, and Magistrate’s Court of Victoria.
With thanks to Federation Square for the filming.
