Tribe, Totem & Trade is a solo art installation by Lee Darroch of found and natural objects exploring the tribes, trade routes, songlines and totems of South-eastern Australia. Some of the sculptures are made form found objects from the lakes and ocean where Lee lives including shark eggs, shells, driftwood, sand and ochre.

The art installation is made up of many different sculptural elements around the themes of tribe, totem, and trade. Elements include a spiral of life, Bunjil the Eaglehawk’s nest, Waang the Crow’s feather, a cloak of trade routes, trade items, driftwood sculptures, possum bags, coiled basketry, and other items.

Lee is of the Yorta Yorta, Mutti Mutti and Trawlwoolway peoples.

Our exhibition program is proudly supported by Arts Victoria, and the Ministry for the Arts through its Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support Program.
