Skateboard Artwork Workshop for Kids

Tricia Van Der-Kuyp (Wiradjuri) is hosting another of her legendary skateboard art workshops. This special opportunity will give kids access to working side-by-side with a First Peoples artist who encourages breaking the rules of art. Each kid will have a blank skateboard deck on which to create their own mixed media artwork. Tricia will demonstrate a range of skills and techniques for participants to explore their own style.

  • All materials supplied, including blank skateboard deck.
  • This is a workshop designed for children ages 7 – 12.
  • Parents and carers are not required to supervise, but should remain onsite for the duration of the workshop.
  • Please bring an apron or smock (or clothes that are okay to get dirty).

Tricia “Vandal” Van Der-Kuyp is a proud Wiradjuri woman and Melbourne-based Bundadhaany (artist). A mixed media artist, with a focus on balugan (animals) and gurawiny (flowers), Tricia has created augmented reality artwork and large-scale public artworks in and around Melbourne. She has had her artwork displayed on a Melbourne Art Tram, and she’s also produced artworks that appear on community art trails around Victoria that have decorated, a sculpture, seats, a barbecue, a car parking space and gallery door with her pop up murals, plus traffic signal boxes. She has art on skateboard decks and has published her own colouring books. She is also an alumni of KHT’s Blak Design program.

Please note that photography, filming and sound recording may take place at this event. By attending the event, you consent to being photographed, filmed and/or recorded. Images and recordings may be used for internal KHT marketing, promotional and reporting purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please advise the photographer or a KHT staff member upon arrival.
