As part of KHT’s series of monthly weaving sessions, this June, we invite all intermediate-skilled weavers to join Jasmine-Skye Marinos (Arrernte) in a more advanced session.
This session is for weavers who are already confident in the basics of coil weaving with blanket stitch.
We will be trying some different techniques including mariposa stitch.
ABOUT JASMINE-SKYE
Jasmine-Skye Marinos (Arrernte), supplied by the artist
My name is Jasmine-Skye, I love to sew, weave, craft and create. I have been making accessories and handcrafted items as a hobby and want to share my culture through my designs. I am a proud Arrernte woman and have been living on Wadawurrung country for over 10 years.
My passion is to share my culture and pass our traditions onto our future generation. Each creation is to pay respect to my elders and culture, using traditional Aboriginal artwork and weaving in my designs
There is love in every stitch. All fabrics are designed by Aboriginal Artists and the materials used in my products are hand gathered on Wadawurrung Country.
Family, community and connection land are important to me. Living on Wadawurrung country has helped me stay strong in my culture.
We acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family, and The Orloff Family Charitable Trust.
