KHT x NGV NAIDOC Gallery Tour

Everyone is invited to celebrate NAIDOC Week and join NGV and Koorie Heritage Trust to journey across Fed Square on this tour for all ages visiting both galleries.

Meet at NGV and start with a tour of First Nations artworks in the NGV Collection, then head over to KHT to join Curatorial Manager, Gail Harradine and Yorta Yorta, Baraparapa, Wiradjuri artist Jenny Murrary-Jones to tour her solo exhibition Coming Home before having a yarn over afternoon tea.

I also love to draw from nature. I love the colours and textures of the landscape, the rich red soils and
the contours of the land, the giant gum trees and the tree ferns. All of these things are part of who we are, they are our identity. Through my art I want to create the images which are a part of our identity.

NAIDOC 2025

NAIDOC Week is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee. NAIDOC Week has its roots in the 1938 Day of Mourning, becoming a week-long event in 1975.

In 2025, NAIDOC Week marks a powerful milestone: 50 years of honoring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
