Drop In Botanical Workshops<br>for Test Garden Open Day

As part of Fed Square’s Test Garden May Open Day, KHT are presenting two drop-in workshops led by First Peoples creatives; Sammy Trist (Taungurung) and Emma Stenhouse (Ngarrindjeri).

These hands-on sessions will use seeds, flowers and plants found in the Test Garden to create art and help you grow your own plants at home.

Join Sammy Trist (Taungurung) to explore the world of Indigenous seeds as you create your own seed ball using local seeds, clay and paper pulp. Take your seed ball home, toss it into the garden, and watch it grow!

In a hands-on workshop with Emma Stenhouse (Ngarrindjeri), learn how to create beautiful botanical prints on fabric using Indigenous plants. Discover how pressing plant materials releases natural tannins that, when activated with a simple iron solution, form unique impressions – and craft a one-of-a-kind print to take home.

  • Each workshop takes 15-30 minutes.
  • You can drop in at any time between 11:30am–1:30pm.
  • All of the materials will be provided.
  • These programs will be held outdoors in the Test Garden at Fed Square.
  • Please bring a hat and water bottle.

Presented in collaboration with Fed Square
