A special school holiday workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children making cultural objects for dance.
Teena Moffatt (Yorta Yorta, Gunaikurnai, Gunditjmara), an experienced dancer and artist will guide kids and their carers in different techniques for making dance belts, arm bands, head attire and more using materials such as jute, raffia, emu feathers.
There will be time and space for some dance demonstrations and movement. Kids will be able to share their dance experiences and culture.
This is a culturally safe workshop reserved for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids.
We gratefully acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family; and the Orloff Family Foundation.
